A strengthened roof window design keeps your home extra secure

The GGL/GGU 70Q is the ultimate choice in terms of burglary resistant roof windows.

Enhanced security with VELUX solutions

Security is a matter of raising the level of difficulty that the burglar has to overcome in order to gain access to your home. If the security level is high enough, the perpetrator will be discouraged and leave your home alone.

It has to be said that statistically the chance of experiencing a break-in through the roof window is extremely rare. Burglars prefer more simple an inconspicuous access ways like a façade window or a terrace door to gain access. Of course, if it’s easy to access the roof surface, if the roof has a low pitch, and if you live in an exposed area, the chance of attracting a burglar will go up, and we would recommend one of our security products, e.g. the new VELUX burglary resistant roof window.

How to obtain class 2 acc. to burglar resistance requirements and classification standard EN 1627

EN 1627 class 2 is the highest burglar resistance classification obtained on the roof window market. This has been achieved by implementing numerous security features, which make the entire window construction extremely sturdy and resilient to the most common burglary attempts. One important feature is the use of laminated security glazing that complies with security standard EN 356, class P4A – testing and classification standard for resistance against manual attack. Class P4A means that the glazing can endure the effect of a 4.1 kg steel ball being dropped three times directly onto the surface from nine meters. Class 2 burglary resistance acc. to EN 1627 requires EN 356, class P4A glazing classification.
